A Day at ACE
Children are divided into two mixed age groups: Puffins and Penguins. The groups rotate around the classrooms visiting all areas of the school during every session.
In the morning session, many activities are centred around a general theme such as Night-time, Our Senses, or Baby Animals, for a period of up to a fortnight. Children are encouraged to bring in items for display on a table, which will then be discussed at daily chat time.
Activities shown are typical of those at ACE but not all days are alike; the structure may alter to accommodate additional activities – such as school outings or trips to a local gym, library, market stall or shop (where we purchase food for snack time and/or cooking activities).

8.30am – 8.45am Early morning session. All children in Big Room

PUFFINS
8.45am – 9.25am Free play in Art and Puzzle Rooms 9.25am Two more minutes. Tidy up and group goes downstairs into Little Room for register and a couple of rhymes 9.35am Key Group Time. Key Person takes her group of Key children into a classroom for group time 10.00am Two more minutes and then the Puffin Group collects back in the Little Room for story 10.15am Start sending down for toilet and snack time once all Penguins have gone down 10.35am Outside playtime 11.15am Chat time in Big Room 11.35am Free Play in Big and Little Room 12.05pm Two more minutes message. Tidy up time 12.15pm All children staying for lunch gather in Big Room for singing time Morning session ends at 12.30 |
PENGUINS
8.45am – 9.25am Free Play in Big and Little Rooms 9.25am Two more minutes. Tidy up and group goes into Big Room for register and a couple of rhymes 9.35am Key Group Time. Key Person takes her group of Key children into a classroom for group time 10.00am Two more minutes and then the Penguin Group collects back in the Big Room for chat time 10.15am Snack time routine begins 10.30am After snack time the children go upstairs to the art and puzzle room 11.15am Two more minutes, tidy up time and story time in Little Room 11.35am Outside playtime 12.05pm Two more minutes, tidy up time and children come in, wash hands and join other children for singing in Big Room (if staying for lunch) or Little Room if going home Morning session ends at 12.30 |

AFTER SCHOOL CLUB
This runs from 4pm to 5.30pm for up to 16 children with 3 members of staff.
The children play outside weather permitting or in the Big room. Snacktime takes place at 4.45pm.
